Written for whoever is reading this at midnight — the patient, or the person searching on their behalf. Here's the timing, the preparation, and what a fitting actually looks like.
If there's time before chemotherapy starts, the ideal window for a consultation is before hair loss begins — it lets me match color, density, and texture to your natural hair while it's still here, and means a unit can be ready by the time you need it, not after. If treatment has already started, that's alright too; we work from photos, memory, and what feels right to you now.
The studio is built for a nervous system that's already carrying a lot: considered light, a clean scent, footies and a blanket if you want them. We move at your pace. A scalp assessment comes first, gently, followed by a design session with sample units and texture rings in hand — nothing is decided from a photo.
I built this clinic after watching my mother, Donna Jean, navigate eight years of illness — and watching my father carry the quiet weight of caregiving alongside her. Caregivers are welcome in every consultation and fitting, because the person doing the driving, the researching, and the sitting-in-the-waiting-room deserves a seat at this table too.
