Who I Serve & What I Make — Cranial Prostheses for Black Clients Navigating Medical Hair Loss

Who I Serve

Black folx navigating medical hair loss, served in person.

I serve Black folx — across the full gender and sexuality spectrum — navigating medical hair loss: cancer treatment, alopecia, scarring, traction damage, and other clinical thinning. The work happens in person, at my private studio in Arlington, Virginia. The people I serve want a cranial prosthesis that mimics their own natural texture — curly, coily, kinky — so they can feel like themselves, not a version of themselves someone else decided on.

What I Make

Cranial prostheses — medical wigs — built for the healing scalp.

Custom cranial prostheses (medical wigs) designed with the compromised, healing scalp as the first consideration — not an afterthought. I work with raw virgin hair for texture fidelity and styling flexibility, so the unit moves and adapts with the person wearing it. The goal is not only restoration. It is joy, experimentation, and a sense of self reclaimed in the middle of a hard season.

The Premise

The clinic I wish she had been offered.

My mother, Donna Jean, spent eight years fighting multiple myeloma. I watched her lose her hair — and I watched what the illness asked of her: the appointments, the scans, the days her body would not do what she wanted it to do. I watched my father carry the quiet weight of caregiving.

This clinic is the answer I wish she had been offered — restoration built for the person, and for the people who carry them.
Why Me — The Differentiators

Two things, and they compound.

Neither alone is uncommon. Together — clinical rigor and genuine sanctuary, aimed squarely at Black textured hair in medical loss — they are the practice.

i.

The Clinical Foundation

Licensed Cosmetologist (DC, VA, MD), Licensed Cosmetology Educator (VA), Certified Cranial Prosthesis Engineer, and Student of Trichology (IAT). Scalp health leads the design rather than following it.

ii.

The Sanctuary

The studio is designed for the nervous system, not just the appointment — considered light, sound, plants, materials, a clean scent. Footies, a blanket, and masks provided. Care for body, mind, and spirit.

iii.

The Caregiver, Included

The person navigating loss rarely navigates alone. Caregivers are welcome in the consultation and the fitting — because I watched what caregiving costs, and it should not go unseen.

The Legacy Collection & The Sherri Renée Partnership

The range to match the person, not the other way around.

My fabrication line spans four cranial prosthesis units across distinct structural needs, development timelines, price points, and customization options — so I match the unit to the person: the stage of their loss, the scalp beneath, the life they are living. During the consultation I design with the Sherri Renée Designer Toolkit alongside the Legacy Collection sample units, kept in-suite — so you see and feel your options rather than imagine them.
The Client Journey
